Student Groups

PC history majors have the opportunity to become involved in two student-led groups. These groups bring the department together for activities other than class and provide an opportunity for social interaction with fellow students and the faculty.

                                               Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society

The PC History Department has a chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society. This national  organization recognizes student academic achievement, and each year the department hosts an  induction ceremony and banquet.

                                                            History Club

A History Club organizes events such as book readings and movie discussions; this is led by  students with faculty sponsorship. Events occur throughout the academic year.

                                                            Social Events

The History Department also sponsors gatherings of the students and faculty at the beginning  and end of each academic year. A pizza party is held each Fall semester for all those students  who are majoring or interested in majoring in history. This is held in the home of one of the  faculty members. The Spring event is a barbeque for graduating seniors. Also held in a faculty  member’s home, this event is designed to celebrate the graduates’ achievements.
