'Encounters
Afar' is a program designed to be a cost-effective,
yet exciting, and excellent travel opportunity.
This is a faculty- led trip over Spring
break to destination, typically a major
world- class urban center, that is related
to a spring semester course. Students can
earn one credit hour for an 'Encounter Afar' trip.

'Maymester'
is a little longer trip, typically
two-to-three weeks, that is faculty-led and
usually incorporates more travel. As the name implies, these
trips leave shortly after graduation in May. The advantages
for this opportunity are that students can often earn more
credit hours, and they have more time to engage the cultures
around them. |

Working
through various independent study
abroad programs, PC offers to students
semester-long study abroad possibilities.
These experiences allow students to study in international
universities with students of the country
where the program is located. By participating
in the International Program, students
take enough coures to earn a full semester of credit
hours. History majors who have taken advantage
of these programs have studied in countries all
across Europe, Cuba, and China.

‘I was initially hesitant to study abroad,
BUT it remains one of the most important things I have ever
done in my life…You learn so much about yourself and
other cultures; you can't afford NOT to do it.’
